Anterior Hip Replacement

Patient Testimonials

  • I am 63 years young and received the Mako Robotic Arm total knee replacement exactly 28 days ago. My recovery has been so amazing I had to write this now rather than later. Dr Boyd and staff are extremely courteous and professional and make you feel comfortable from day one. This is my recovery timeline. I was driving in 7 days, shoveling snow 17 days out and my swelling is 90% gone. My physical therapist was amazed from my first visit at 7 days. Everyone I talk with who has had a replacement with other doctors and procedures cannot believe the progress I have made. They are jealous! Bottom line is I am very pleased and thankful with the care and recovery I just had to share with you all......

  • It's been about a year since Dr. Boyd replaced the right hip. I wanted to say thanks again. It seems to get stronger each month. I hike Old Rag Mountain in July without any issues, and wanted to pass alone this photo of some yard work I did this past weekend for my little sister. No problems, although my wife Susan says I'm doing things a 63 year old with titanium hips shouldn't be doing. I trust none of this will void my warranty.

  • Details of the Recommendation: “I highly recommend Dr. Boyd to everyone needing Orthopedic care and/or joint replacement. Dr. Boyd did 2 joint replacements for me and both surgeries went well and recovery was a lot faster than others have experienced with older, less progressive methods. Dr. Boyd is a very caring physician and actually listens to his patients and takes the time to explain procedures, recovery process, and possible problems that may occur with surgery. He does NOT rush you out the door, he makes sure you understand and are comfortable with the decision to have your surgery. This was very important to me.

  • As a woman in my 50s I have been trying my best to stay fit through various types of cardio exercise and resistance training. I unfortunately got distracted during a run and fell over the curb and into the street. I immediately knew that my arm broke upon impact with the pavement and my first thoughts were “oh no! I haven’t started packing!” as I was scheduled to fly to Germany for a business trip that evening. Thankfully Dr Boyd was the Orthopaedic surgeon who saw me at the hospital. His compassion for my situation was clear and a few hours later I was in surgery and my business trip was postponed by only two days.

Dr Boyd realized that my bone was broken so badly that I probably had significant bone loss. He had my bone loss recorded and promptly prescribed the medicines needed to encourage bone growth.

Dr Boyd encouraged me to return to the active lifestyle that I enjoyed prior to my fall. I am running again, regularly hitting the gym and I was able to go on my annual ski trip five months after the surgery. There is a lot of “arm activity” involved in skiing, from lifting skisgetting in/out of gondolas, to poling on the flatter sections of the mountains. I had no issues whatsoever with my arm during the trip and feel confident that I can do just about anything.

I told Dr Boyd that I was so thankful that he was the surgeon who first saw me at the hospital and I meant it. The surgery was a complete success (plate and seven screws), I was able to attend my meetings in Europe and I am enjoying life as if my injury never occurred. Dr Boyd’s caring manner is comforting and my confidence in his abilities is unwavering. I would highly recommend Dr Boyd to anyone in need of a Doctor of Orthopaedics.

  • My experience with Dr. Bradley Boyd was wonderful encounter. I had broken my ankle and long bone in my leg. He did surgery, put a 5 inch plate in my leg. I had “NO” pain what so ever, did not need pain medication or therapy. Dr. Boyd gave me plenty of time on all my visits to his office. He’s a very nice and thoughtful man.

  • I had a left anterior hip replacement in Jan. 2014 performed by Dr. Bradley Boyd. Prior to the surgery I limped, went up the stairs one at a time and had limited physical activity.

After surgery I spent 2 days in the hospital and came home with a cane, crutch or walker. I could use the stairs and walk without pain. I had exercises to do – but not rehab. I was driving in 3 weeks and by 6 weeks had no restrictions, returning to exercise- walking, Pilates etc.

My friends call me the poster child for hip replacement. I found Dr. Boyd patient, easy to talk to, with a good bedside manner. He explained my questions, alleviate my fears and saw me promptly. I have sung his praises and would highly recommend him as a surgeon for this type of hip replacement. I am 67 years old!

  • Not only is Dr. Bradley Boyd an extraordinary surgeon but also a caring, gentle human being. I feel so fortunate that he was available for my emergency procedure in October 2013. From the moment I met him ( and his staff), I trusted him and his recommendations.
Suring one of my follow – up visits, he tried to credit my speedy recovery to my efforts in rehabilitation. Uh, uh! He deserves 70% to my 30%.
I appreciate Dr. Boyd’s warmth and caring demeanor- from his initial hand-shake to patience with answering my questions. I never feel rushed. I credit him with my return to my life as I knew it- caring for three children and their myriad of needs – in only two months!
I look forward to my continued relationship with Dr. Boyd in my quest for improved physical health. He is a wonderful physician and caretaker!
